The Cause of Death by Dr Cynric Temple-Camp is a captivating exploration of the macabre and mysterious cases encountered over an illustrious 30-year career as a provincial pathologist. Journey into the world of forensic pathology where each story unveils the often gruesome and bizarre ways in which life can come to an abrupt end.

From the chilling instances of spontaneous human combustion to the disturbing revelations unearthed during exhumations, Temple-Camp draws readers into the stark reality of life as a pathologist. The book provides an insider's view of perplexing cases involving drug mules risking it all, the sinister underworld of devil worshippers, and a particularly harrowing murder beneath the Palmerston North Airport control tower that will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about human nature.

The Cause of Death also delves into the eerie case of a mysterious death in a historic homestead, piecing together clues that seem almost otherworldly. Dr Temple-Camp's narrative extends further with a meticulous dissection of the infamous Mark Lundy case, offering fresh insights into one of the most controversial murder cases in New Zealand's history.

Dr Cynric Temple-Camp brings unparalleled expertise to each account, combining clinical precision with compelling storytelling. His reflections not only highlight the technical aspects of forensic pathology but also touch upon the emotional and ethical dimensions of dealing with death's often inexplicable occurrences. This book is a must-read for aficionados of true crime and those fascinated by the medical mysteries lurking behind seemingly ordinary lives.
