Meet the most important members of the Book Hero team - the pets! From the cats to the kune kune pigs, check out what the pets are reading (well, would be reading).
Here at Book Hero we love pets as much as we love books (maybe more). The true loves of our lives, our fur children, and the ones who are actually in charge - here are the team's treasured pets as well as the books we think they would be reading if they could.
Philip and his cats - Fox & Monkey!
Fox is probably more interested in spending time outside touching (and maybe sometimes eating) grass, but I'm sure he'd equally enjoy sinking his teeth into; 'Empire of the Vampire' by Jay Kristoff. Monkey is a bit more of a hermit and loves casting spells (I don't have a photo of his spell casting sadly), so would absolutely love 'Circe' by Madeline Miller!
Kevin and his cat - Jiji!
Here is Jiji, my 2nd rescue cat, now 3 years old. He's afraid of strangers, and could be very needy at night (must-have cuddles). If he could read, he would definitely read Studio Ghibli's Kiki's Delivery Service, cos the cat inside is where I got his name from.
Eve and her puppy - Scout!
For Scout, every walk is a big expedition! 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' would be his favourite because no puddle is too muddy, no long grass too tall, and no trail too interesting to explore. Life is one big adventure when you're a curious pup.
Dylan and his cat - Evie!
Dylan's beloved rescue cat, Evie, joined the family from the SPCA five years ago and has been ruling the household ever since. The only "child" of Dylan and Alex, she's treated like absolute royalty! When she's not keeping a watchful eye on the team at Book Hero, you'll usually find her asleep - ideally on Dylan's lap or pillow. Her favourite book? 'Why We Sleep' by Matthew Walker.
Lizzy and her cat - Merlin
This is Merlin, our incredibly floofy boy we got from the SPCA about 9 years ago. He rules the house with a fluffy belly and likes to attack me when I least expect it (just me, no one else). He also comes running when he hears us opening an ice cream and proceeds to try to claw it out of my hands the entire time I'm eating it. Ice cream has never been so high stakes and stressful. He doesn’t need any tips from Mark Manson but I’m sure he would read this book ('The Subtle Art of Not Giving A ****') anyway to reinforce his own beliefs.
Eve and her kunekune pigs - Rolls & Royce
If our two Kune Kune pigs could curl up with a good book, they'd be reading 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Not for the life lessons, but as a guide to their ideal daily menu! After being fed multiple buckets of food a day, they have acquired a very large pallet - one you could say as big as the Hungry Caterpillars!
