Guardians of the Gods - In the Shadow of the Fall by Tobi Ogundrian tells the story of Ashâke, an acolyte in the temple of Ifa, who yearns for the day she is made a priest and is sent out into the world to serve the orisha. Yet, she stands apart, as she is the only acolyte ignored by the orisha, despite her dedication.

Years pass, and Ashâke watches her peers ascend to full priesthood, leaving her behind, stranded on the sidelines. In her desperation, she attempts an audacious act—to summon and trap an orisha, any orisha. Instead of fulfilling her daring plan, she is gripped by a vision so harrowing that it captures the attention of a powerful enemy sect.

Suddenly, Ashâke finds herself inadvertently thrust into the heart of a centuries-old war, one that will threaten to shatter the very foundations of her world.
