A new translation of the 6th-century Taoist text Bai Yao Lu (Statutes of the Hundred Remedies), with practical commentary

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

The Hundred Remedies of the Tao by Gregory Ripley is a new translation of the 6th-century Taoist text Bai Yao Lu (Statutes of the Hundred Remedies) accompanied by practical commentary.

This book explains how the Hundred Remedies of the Bai Yao Lu offer a practical guide to what enlightened or sagely behaviour looks like. Each short verse of the Hundred Remedies presents a spiritual precept as a solution to the problems encountered in daily life and on the spiritual path.

Ripley provides insightful commentary for each of the Hundred Remedies, demonstrating their relation to meditation practice and how they can aid us in navigating emotional and social challenges.

In the context of modern Taoist practice, which often emphasises "going with the flow" (wu-wei), there's an understanding that for many, following a spiritual path involves ethical, moral, and practical guidelines. Ripley (Li Guan, 理觀) highlights how this lesser-known text serves as a practical guide to what enlightened behaviour entails. The 100 spiritual remedies offer timeless relevance, as applicable today as they were over 1,500 years ago.

Ripley's contemporary translation of the Bai Yao Lu not only updates the text for today's world but also provides commentary that enriches our understanding of how these teachings relate to Taoist meditation. His presentation reframes the spiritual precepts not as restrictive commandments but rather as positive solutions to everyday and spiritual challenges.

This guidebook to Taoist spiritual living empowers you to effortlessly embrace the flow, deepen your meditation practice, and find the natural balance in all things.
