Poor Sumi Kitamura faces a dilemma as her irresponsible older brother, Eisuke, continually brings home orphans for her to care for, even though they can hardly afford their own basic needs. As Sumi's financial troubles worsen, wealthy Soichiro Ashida offers her a peculiar deal: he will provide the much-needed money if she agrees to marry him.

But can Sumi convince high society that she's a proper lady? Is it worth sacrificing everything for a sham marriage?

Sumi approaches Nozomu, asking him to stop purchasing the land where she and Soichiro live. Nozomu agrees, but with a condition—Sumi must leave Soichiro and become his wife instead.
