See moreThis is the first issue (Issue 0) of a literary magazine containing brilliant poetry and artwork by wonderful artists. Possibly best described by this quote from William Blake: "In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy. Drive your cart and your plow over the bones of the dead." Excerpt from: Proverbs of Hell ~ William Blake
Letter From the Editor:
When I set out in August of 2021 to produce this collection of poems, much of society was in a place of turmoil and upheaval. One thing that became clear to me; upheaval is natural and imbued into the fabric of the universe. It is through upheaval that new rich soil is created, where refreshed space allows for beautiful new things to grow. In our lives, we harvest the abundance, which leads to tranquility, which leads to something like complacency, and then again, inexorably leads to upheaval.
The seeking, longing, and meditative works in this first print of Lone Mountain Literary Society's literary magazine, The Nature of Things, ask and reflect on these ideas: Time is not an arrow; it is a sphere; beauty is everlasting in all its forms. These are the nature of things: there cannot be one or some without another or others; eventually, everything is one. Just as there is no infinite without the temporal, no music without silence, no doing without non-doing.
Come and see
Death flows this way
into the maw of silence
from the circles of birth
