About the Author
Like most boys, Russ Thorne definitely daydreamed about slaying dragons, rescuing princesses and swinging big swords. Unfortunately there wasn't much of that about in rural Yorkshire, so he contented himself with reading Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, playing Hero Quest and poring over issues of 'White Dwarf', admiring the cover art in the process. He's published books on tattoo art, and vampires and writes regularly for national newspapers including the Independent.
Ken Kelly (foreword) is one of the most successful fantasy artists. The power and dynamism of his uncle, Frank Frazettaβs style can be seen in Kellyβs work, and heβs covered a wide range of warriors and heroes, including Conan the Barbarian and Tarzan, as well as many album covers for rock bands such as KISS.
