Georgia - Culture Smart!
Culture Smart guides help travellers have a more meaningful and successful time abroad through a better understanding of the local culture. Chapters on values, attitudes, customs, and daily life will help you make the most of your visit, while tips on etiquette and communication will help you navigate unfamiliar situations and avoid faux pas.
Georgia - Culture Smart! offers an insightful exploration of Georgia, a small Caucasian country that lies between Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East, on the southeastern shore of the Black Sea. This strategically significant nation has long played a crucial role in global geopolitics, finding itself at the crossroads of different civilizations. Its location is both a curse and a blessing, as historically it has been a battlefield for the Christian and Muslim worlds. Today, Georgia navigates its NATO aspirations while situated in Russia's sphere of influence.
The Silk Road, the great overland trade route between Europe and China, historically brought the world to Georgia. The country's ancient Christian culture reflects a myriad of influences from Arab, Persian, and Ottoman conquerors, presenting a unique blend of cultural experiences. This is further enriched by a southern Mediterranean feel, traces of its old Soviet legacy, and a notable modern Western influence. Visitors can anticipate encountering a culture that dates back thousands of years.
Georgia - Culture Smart! is designed to provide valuable insights and practical tips for both tourists and businesspeople. It guides readers through the complex realities of the country, elucidating what motivates its people, their approach to daily work and social lives, as well as their customs and traditions. The book offers strategies on how to effectively relate to Georgians, ensuring a culturally aware and enriching experience.
