The instant New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller!

Menopause and perimenopause remain enigmas to many, often leaving women bewildered as they cope with an array of symptoms including hot flushes, insomnia, and brain fog. In The Menopause Brain, Dr Lisa Mosconi, a prominent neuroscientist and women's brain health expert, demystifies this transformative period by highlighting the brain's pivotal role in menopause. Contrary to conventional understanding, menopause affects more than just the ovaries and the reproductive system; it is a profound hormonal transition that the brain orchestrates at its core.

Dr Mosconi meticulously explains how the decline of oestrogen during menopause impacts various aspects of brain function, influencing everything from body temperature regulation to mood and memory. This hormonal shift can set the stage for cognitive challenges later in life, but fear not—there are strategies to address these issues effectively. Mosconi offers insights into cutting-edge hormone replacement therapies, including the innovative 'designer oestrogens', and explores the relevance of hormonal contraception during this phase. Additionally, she advocates for key lifestyle adjustments that encompass diet, exercise, self-care, and positive self-talk to strengthen cognitive resilience.

Beyond mere survival, The Menopause Brain aims to empower women, dispelling the myth that menopause signals the end of mental agility and vitality. Dr Mosconi reassures readers that, with the right knowledge and self-care practices, one can navigate this transitional phase seamlessly and emerge with a rejuvenated, more robust brain. This book is not just a guide; it's a beacon of hope, illustrating that menopause can herald a vibrant new beginning, full of potential and enriched life experiences.
