She Is Not Your Rehab
She Is Not Your Rehab
The cycles of trauma and abuse often perpetuate across generations, until someone finds the courage to break the chain. In She Is Not Your Rehab by Matt Brown, readers are taken on a transformative journey through the lives of men who have dared to say, "This stops with me." In the haven of Matt's barbershop, men find more than a haircut; they discover a sanctuary where they can be seen and heard without judgement.
Mataio (Matt) Faafetai Malietoa Brown, the visionary behind My Fathers Barbers, has sparked a revolution among New Zealand men, encouraging them to liberate themselves from the cycles of abuse. These men, in turn, have fuelled Matt and his wife, Sarah, to establish the global anti-violence movement, She Is Not Your Rehab.
Within this compelling book, Matt unveils his personal narrative alongside the powerful stories of his clients. These accounts, marked by the haunting realities of family violence and abuse, transform into testimonies of resilience, healing, and redemption. The men share how they have overcome their tumultuous pasts to reclaim their lives, providing readers with palpable proof that change is possible.
She Is Not Your Rehab introduces readers to the influential people and groundbreaking concepts that have been instrumental in Matt's healing process. With profound honesty and vulnerability, Matt offers practical tools and insights to assist readers on their own journeys of self-discovery and recovery.
This book underscores the transformative power of vulnerability and honesty in confronting pain and shame. It serves as a powerful reminder that healing begins with taking responsibility for one's own pain. By embracing these principles, anyone can embark on a path of empowerment and self-healing.
She Is Not Your Rehab is more than a book; it is a call to action for individuals to grow beyond their traumas and to contribute to a world where violence has no place. Matt Brown's heartfelt and authentic voice provides a beacon of hope for those seeking to break free from their past and to forge a healthier, happier future.

About the Author
Mataio (Matt) Faafetai Malietoa Brown is an internationally acclaimed barber and hair artist and the founder of My Fathers Barbers, the barbershop where men go to heal. His dedication to reviving the craft of barbering has seen him teach and demonstrate all over the world. While he's cut everyone from All Blacks to members of Wu-Tang Clan, Matt believes his true calling is his work to redefine society's view of masculinity - and to help end the cycle of domestic violence affecting families throughout the world. Matt, a New Zealander of Samoan descent, together with his wife Sarah (Ngapuhi/Te Rarawa), founded the anti-violence movement She Is Not Your Rehab. In 2019, he outlined the kaupapa of She Is Not Your Rehab in a powerful TEDx Talk that continues to inspire today. Matt regularly collaborates with community and government organisations in New Zealand and abroad and hosts a men's anti-violence support group from his barbershop, enabling men to access free therapy and support. He is the creator and facilitator of a barbering programme taught in men's prisons throughout New Zealand and a Corrections NZ patron. He is also an ambassador for the It's Not OK campaign with the Ministry of Social Development. He was a 2020 Westfield Riccarton Local Hero and a finalist for the Kiwibank New Zealand Local Hero of the Year award. Matt and Sarah are proud parents to three and reside in Christchurch, New Zealand.
