Mindset by Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D., offers readers an insightful exploration of how our beliefs about our own abilities can profoundly impact our success and happiness. Dweck, a world-renowned psychologist from Stanford University, shares decades of pioneering research to reveal the powerful role mindset plays in all aspects of life. In this updated edition of the million-copy bestseller, Dweck delves into transformative ideas about redefining success, building lifelong resilience, and supercharging self-improvement. Through compelling research studies and engaging writing, she illuminates how our underlying beliefs shape the paths we take in learning, work, sports, the arts, and nearly every other human endeavour.

“Through clever research studies and engaging writing, Dweck illuminates how our beliefs about our capabilities exert tremendous influence on how we learn and which paths we take in life.”—Bill Gates, GatesNotes

“It’s not always the people who start out the smartest who end up the smartest.”

Dweck introduces the concept of the fixed mindset, where individuals believe their talents and abilities are static and unchangeable, contrasting it with the growth mindset, which posits that abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. The book vividly presents how adopting a growth mindset can lead to remarkable achievements and fulfilment in various domains, from education to leadership and personal relationships.

Beyond individual development, Mindset explores how parents, educators, and leaders can cultivate a growth mindset to foster success in others. Dweck discusses practical strategies for encouraging a culture of growth in classrooms, workplaces, and homes, enabling those you influence to thrive and reach their highest potential.

In this latest edition, Dweck not only elaborates on her famous concept but also addresses the phenomenon of the false growth mindset—where individuals or groups mistakenly believe they have a growth mindset. She provides essential guidance on transitioning from a superficial to a genuine growth mindset, underscoring the importance of fostering true growth and flexibility in thinking.

Moreover, Dweck expands her insights beyond the individual level, applying the growth mindset to the collective cultures of groups and organisations. With the right mindset, leaders can significantly motivate and inspire those they lead, driving transformation and creating a more adaptive and resilient community.

Mindset is an indispensable read for anyone looking to unlock their fullest potential and enable others to do the same. Dweck’s groundbreaking concepts offer a powerful framework for understanding how a shift in perspective can transform educational systems, organisational dynamics, and personal lives.
