Complete Works 1979–Today. 2020 Edition by Philip Jodidio celebrates the revolutionary contributions of Zaha Hadid (1950 - 2016), a trailblazing architect who profoundly impacted the architectural world. Despite being widely acclaimed and winning numerous prizes, Hadid initially saw few of her designs realised. Critics even claimed that her concepts were impossible to construct. However, in the later years of her life, her bold visions came to fruition, transforming cities with her unique architectural language. Noteworthy projects include the Port House in Antwerp, the Al Janoub Stadium near Doha, Qatar, and the spectacular new airport terminal in Beijing.
By the time of her untimely death in 2016, Hadid had secured her place among the elite in architecture. She worked on significant projects across Europe, China, the Middle East, and the United States. Hadid was the first female architect to win both the Pritzker Prize for architecture and the prestigious RIBA Royal Gold Medal. Today, Zaha Hadid Architects is led by her long-time partner Patrik Schumacher, who continues her legacy through numerous new projects.
