About the Author
Lutenist Nigel North was Professor of Lute at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (London), Hochschule der KΓΌnste (Berlin), and Indiana University. He has been playing and teaching lute for over fifty years and enjoys a rich and passionate musical life. He is an enthusiastic teacher, loves playing in ensemble, accompanying singers, and giving solo recitals. His recordings of solo lute music span a wide range of styles, including the music of J. S. Bach, Sylvius Leopold Weiss, John Dowland, and Francesco da Milano. His book Continuo Playing on the Lute, Archlute and Theorbo: A Comprehensive Guide for Performers has accompanied many young lutenists.
