Bravely Bleeding
Balancing clinical precision with raw lyricism, Kris Corbett RN highlights that healing isn't just about medical recovery-sometimes, our greatest wounds can become our greatest sources of strength.
In the winter of 1999, at age twenty-two, registered nurse Kris Corbett's life changed forever when she grasped a bottle of orange juice and watched it fall from her suddenly weak left hand. What began as numbness in her lips and fingers led to a devastating diagnosis: a cerebral cavernous angioma. This raspberry-like tangle of blood vessels deep in her brain had begun to bleed.
Bravely Bleeding offers a powerful dual perspective that follows Corbett's journey from nurse to patient, from caregiver to the one needing care.
Moving between her ongoing medical crisis and the childhood experiences that shaped her, Kris explores how her medical know-how, determination, and empathy prepared her to face the unimaginable.
Balancing clinical precision with raw lyricism, Corbett highlights that healing isn't just about medical recoveryβbut the deeper work of finding meaning in suffering and discovering that sometimes, our greatest wounds can become our greatest sources of strength.

About the Author
Kris Corbett's life was forever changed at the age of twenty-two years old when diagnosed with a brain lesion after a transient ischemic attack. Facing this medical condition became a battle that lasted almost twenty-five years. Drawing on her experience as both a patient and a healthcare provider, Corbett brings a rare and deeply human perspective to conversations about trauma, healing, and the power of reclaiming one's voice. Her debut memoir, Bravely Bleeding, explores what it means to survive with grace, grit, and a tired grin.Kris was born and raised on the south side of Chicago and currently lives in Maryland with her spouse, their four amazing children, and three pugs who run the household. She is a registered nurse, former U.S. federal civil servant, and basketball coach who is passionate about empowering others through storytelling and reminding people that healing isn't linear-but it is possible.
