101 Legendary Selections from the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts
Delve into a collection a century in the making with 101 Legendary Selections from the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts (KIA), which honours our past and points toward our future.
For one hundred years, the KIA has served regional and national audiences as an art museum and community-based art school. This exciting publication details the museum's history while presenting highlights from its collection of nearly five thousand artworks from the United States and around the world.
Explore exquisite and compelling photographs by artists ranging from Anna Atkins to Dawoud Bey, depictions of the immigrant experience by artists from Diego Rivera to Dulce Pinzón, awe-inspiring and dynamic works by painters from Robert Seldon Duncansen to Helen Frankenthaler, and singular works by sculptors from Deborah Butterfield to Richard Hunt.
While 101 Legendary Selections is a brief glimpse into this unique Michigan-based collection, readers will surely be inspired and delighted by the stories of local, regional, and national artists who have shaped and continue to impact the KIA, its community, and regions beyond.
