Gumiho: Wicked Fox by Kat Cho is a fresh and addictive fantasy-romance set in modern-day Seoul.

Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret—she's a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. In the bustling, modern city of Seoul, where so few believe in the old tales anymore and with so many evil men no one will miss, it's the perfect place for Miyoung to hide and hunt.

But one fateful night, after feeding under a full moon, Miyoung encounters Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin in the depths of the forest. Violating the rules of survival against her better judgment, she rescues him, losing her fox bead—her gumiho soul—in the process.

Jihoon knows Miyoung is far more than a beautiful girl; he witnessed her nine tails the night she saved his life. His grandmother used to recount stories of the gumiho's power and the peril they represent to men. Despite this, he finds himself drawn to her irresistibly. When he stumbles upon her fox bead, he unknowingly holds her life in his hands.

As murderous forces loom in the background, Miyoung and Jihoon develop a fragile friendship that blossoms into something deeper. However, when a young shaman intervenes to reunite Miyoung with her bead, the results are catastrophic, reigniting a generations-old feud and forcing Miyoung to make a harrowing choice between her immortal life and Jihoon's.

About the Author

Kat Cho used to hide books under the bathroom sink and then sneak in there to read after bedtime. Her parents pretended not to know. This helped when she decided to write a dinosaur time-travel novel at the tender age of nine. Sadly, that book was not published. She currently lives and works in NYC and spends her free time trying to figure out what kind of puppy to adopt.
