The Hidden Way
The Hidden Way
Stasya and her companions have embarked on a remarkable journey to find the true heir to the Rulership, believed dead as a child. Their mission is to bring Markus back to court for the Ruler’s Grand Council, where he will stand up and reveal himself. Until then, his survival must remain a secret, for not only is he at risk, but the Ruler’s guards are scouring the roads, hunting for the fugitives. While Markus, in seclusion, prepares for the monumental task ahead, the team moves away from Heartwood, accompanied by two of the Forest Folk. Olev and Eldur, with their extraordinary gifts, provide a level of security beyond the capability of human guards.
Stasya and Karolis, along with Olev, join a troupe of travelling players. As a storyteller, Stasya can spread the message of justice and harmony, while Karolis ensures her safety and hones his own skills. Meanwhile, Aleksis, with Matiss and Eldur for support, travels extensively to garner the backing of trusted allies.
The journey is fraught with dangers: shipwreck, armed attack, and creatures both human and supernatural. Although Olev and Eldur can discover shortcuts unknown to humankind, those hidden ways present their own hazards. Stasya's small companion, Flip, is both a gift and a burden in a realm where any hint of witchcraft can result in a death sentence. As they traverse the land, the team witnesses the extensive damage caused by the Ruler’s relentless quest for amber, which lays waste to the land and burdens communities with unbearable demands. Through it all, they learn the strength that comes from unity.
Everyone dreads the final confrontation, aware of the significance of the stakes. In the end, could storytelling be the key?
The Hidden Way by offers a compelling tale of courage, unity, and the power of narrative.
