From the author of Some Girls Do comes a YA sapphic romance about two girls from different sides of the tracks.

Summer Girls tells the story of Cass, who lives by a strict rule when it comes to dating summer girls: just say no. Every year, her idyllic beach town is inundated with summer girls, those obnoxious daughters of the wealthy who spend their time in their families' summer homes, sailing their yachts, and generally making life unbearable for townies like Cass.

Birdie epitomises the ultimate summer girl. As the daughter of a wealthy real estate developer and a social media influencer, Birdie finds herself in hot water this summer after accidentally wrecking her boyfriend's very expensive car. Her punishment is to spend the summer with her father at the beach, but it won't be a relaxing vacation. Her father enlists the help of Cass, whose dad works for him, to ensure Birdie stays on the straight and narrow. This includes getting Birdie a job at the public beach where Cass works as a lifeguard.

Initially, the two girls can't stand each other. Birdie resents having a babysitter, and Cass has no interest in being one. However, as the summer progresses and the temperatures rise, Birdie continually surprises Cass. Before long, both girls are left to ponder whether some rules are meant to be broken.
