Book Briefing - 5th August
Welcome to this week's Book Briefing where we round up the news for the week!
See moreWhen a routine FBI check reveals his fingerprints are a match for two other people, Special Agent candidate Dave Anderson becomes the target of a deadly cover-up. Now he's running from the system he swore to protect and must decide what matters more-the truth or staying alive. The criminal justice system was built on certainty. Anderson's prints just broke it.
Fingerprints don't lie. The truth might kill him.
A routine background check sends shockwaves through the FBI when a lab tech discovers Special Agent candidate Dave Anderson's fingerprints match two other people already in the system. Fingerprints have long been the cornerstone of criminal justice, but this anomaly could bring the entire system crashing downβif anyone finds out.
Before the truth can surface, powerful forces within the FBI move to erase every trace of the evidenceβand anyone who knows about it. Now the lab tech and Anderson himself are targets, caught in the crosshairs of a deadly cover-up.
Set against the backdrop of a fractured, racially divided Detroit, Whorl thrusts Anderson into a brutal fight for survival. As the walls close in, Anderson must navigate a web of secrets, corruption, and hidden agendas.
He may have dreamed of becoming an FBI agent, but Anderson isn't as clean as he seemsβand he's got more to hide than just his prints.
The real question is: who can he trust? And how far is he willing to go to keep his own secrets buried?

About the Author
We're all a product of our experiences. The more experiences, the harder the road was to get to where you are now, the more you have to draw on when it comes time to write. In my life I've been a police officer, armored car driver, and spent most of 20 years working as a private investigator in and around the artful ruin that is modern Detroit. I've had close family members murdered, invested decades into a marriage that went bad, raised kids that turned out great, got fired from jobs I desperately needed....and through it all I wrote. There were words in my head that I just needed to get onto paper, mostly fiction, but I never thought I could make any money at it. But life has a way of giving you what you need. I now find myself in the slightly surreal position of writing for a living. Right now non-fiction articles are my bread and butter, and I write regularly for outdoor magazines. That work put me in contact with Dillard Johnson, whose autobiography CARNIVORE I co-wrote. CARNIVORE was published in 2012 by Harper Collins and has done very well. However, there isn't anything in the world that I love doing more than writing fiction. My first published fiction novel, FAILURE DRILL, came out in 2004, and I have six more novels done, with more on the way. Keep up with me at OfficialJamesTarr dot com.
