The Ghost of Us
The Ghost of Us
The Ghost of Us by James L. Sutter follows Cara, an aspiring ghost hunter eager to prove she is more than just a high school outcast by finding evidence of the supernatural.
During her quest, Cara encounters the spirit of Aiden, a popular boy who passed away a year earlier. Aiden has his own agenda: he wants to help his reclusive sister Meredith heal from his death and believes Cara is the perfect person for the task.
Cara agrees to ask Meredith out in exchange for Aiden's assistance in proving the existence of life beyond death. The arrangement is straightforward: no dates, no ghost. However, winning over the standoffish Meredith is far from simple. With Aiden's guidance, Cara gradually earns Meredith's affection—and discovers she is genuinely falling for her.
As Meredith becomes happier and Aiden's mission draws to a close, his ghost begins to fade away. Cara finds herself at a crossroads: can she continue dating and deceiving Meredith, or must she ultimately let go of the ghost?
