In primitive religions, dance was a form of identification with the eternal movement of cosmic forces. Rhythmic movements integrate dream images and put one in contact with the origin of life. The body was the human being's first expressive medium. He danced each time he wished to communicate what he felt on the memorable occasions of life, such as birth, puberty, marriage, harvest, abundance, hunting, and death.
