Schnitzel Von Krumm's Basketwork

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

In Schnitzel Von Krumm's Basketwork by Lynley Dodd, readers are introduced to the endearing Schnitzel Von Krumm, a dog with a particularly strong attachment to his old, worn-out basket. This beloved basket, despite its shabby and smelly appearance, is Schnitzel's sanctuary, providing him with comfort and security. However, when Schnitzel's family decides to replace it with a brand new, smart-looking basket, the little pup is utterly outraged.

Schnitzel Von Krumm embarks on a quest to find a new, cosy, and comforting spot to call his own, but nothing seems to measure up to his old basket. From trying out different places around the house to seeking refuge in unexpected spots, Schnitzel's journey is filled with humour and moments that will resonate with children and adults alike.

Through vivid illustrations and rhythmic writing, Lynley Dodd masterfully captures the canine's sense of attachment and the importance of familiar comforts. As Schnitzel searches for a replacement, his family gradually comes to understand his needs and sentiments.

Schnitzel Von Krumm's Basketwork is a charming, humorous, and heartwarming tale that will enchant readers. It highlights the bond between pets and their cherished possessions, as well as the understanding and empathy required from their human companions. This delightful story not only entertains but also teaches valuable lessons about compassion and recognising the unique attachments our pets form.

Perfect for children, this beautifully illustrated book combines humour, warmth, and a resonant message in a way that will be enjoyed by the entire family.

About the Author

Lynley Dodd graduated from the Elam School of Art in Auckland with a diploma in Fine Arts, majoring in sculpture. She went on to teach art before taking a break to start a family. She began to work as a freelance illustrator and collaborated with author Eve Sutton on My Cat Likes To Hide in Boxes. There was no looking back as Lynley went on to write and illustrate her own books for children. Exuberant artwork and bouncy rhymes come together perfectly in books like Slinky Malinki and Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy. As well as being a visual delight, these are some of the most rewarding books for children and adults to read out loud. It comes as no surprise that, as a child, she adored Dr Seuss because of his 'crazy sounds and the fact that he took such liberties with the English language.' Other favourite authors included A A Milne and the fairy tales of The Grimm Brothers and Hans Christian Andersen. Today, Lynley is a big fan of Quentin Blake 'because of his humour and very clever art work.'
