Andreas Schlüter (1659-1714) was the most important Baroque sculptor and architect in Northern Europe. Around 1700, he transformed Berlin into a modern residential city. As court artist, court sculptor, and director of the Berlin Academy of Art, Schlüter held a highly responsible position.
