DescriptionIn Berserk Volume 16, renowned warrior Guts finds himself navigating a perilous and dark path as he battles against forces beyond human comprehension. Marked for a grim sacrifice by the malevolent armies of the damned, Guts becomes embroiled in a haunting conflict, drenched in both literal and metaphorical blood, when the inhabitants of a village are tainted by demonic possession. These once-innocent village children, twisted into a nightmarish horde, become ferocious elf-demons that stretch the boundaries of a fairy-tale gone awry.
As Guts confronts his relentless fate and the cursed symbol etched upon his flesh, he must also face a formidable new adversary: the Queen of the Elves. Though deceptively charming and seemingly innocent in appearance, this petite ruler possesses a terrifying blend of power and malevolence, wielding her magic with deadly precision. Her enchanting façade is only matched by the sinister intent that dwells beneath, leaving desolation in her wake as she ensures that a 'happily ever after' is but a distant dream for any who cross her path.
This volume continues the critically acclaimed saga of Berserk, blending horror, fantasy, and intricate character development as it explores themes of fate, sacrifice, and resilience. Kentaro Miura's masterful storytelling and stunning artistry bring this dark fantasy realm to life, captivating readers with its intense narrative and visually arresting battles. About the Author
While attending college at Nihon University, in 1988, Kentaro Miura debuted a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star). In 1990, the first volume Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga entitled Japan. Miura's fame grew after Berserk began "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of this masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists. In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan made, ranging from statues and action figures, to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentaro Miura received the second place in the Tezuka Osamu (Astro Boy) Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. The author lives in Tokyo, Japan.
