Royal Assassin
‘Fantasy as it ought to be written’ George R.R. Martin The second volume in Robin Hobb’s internationally bestselling Farseer Trilogy.
Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb is the captivating second instalment in the internationally bestselling Farseer Trilogy. Following the perilous journey of FitzChivalry Farseer, a royal bastard and trained assassin, this novel delves deeper into the intricate politics and dangerous secrets of the Six Duchies.
In the aftermath of the events in Assassin's Apprentice, Fitz must navigate a treacherous web of intrigue and betrayal. His beloved Molly remains unaware of the full extent of his dangerous responsibilities, and the confidentiality surrounding his tasks becomes an insurmountable barrier between them. As the kingdom faces threats both external and internal, Fitz's loyalty is tested in ways he never imagined.
The coastal towns are ravaged by merciless raiders, and an enigmatic illness has mysteriously weakened King Shrewd. With Prince Verity preoccupied with defending the realm and ultimately leaving court in a desperate quest to find the legendary Elderlings, Fitz is left isolated. His only companions in this dire situation are his wolf, Nighteyes, and the king's enigmatic fool, cloaked in motley garb.
Amongst the palace intrigue, young Fitz becomes a pawn in the sinister schemes of Prince Regal, who harbours dark ambitions for the throne. As Regal's machinations come to light, Fitz realises that he must be prepared to sacrifice everything—his heart, his hope, even his life—to safeguard the kingdom he has sworn to protect.
Robin Hobb masterfully weaves a tale rich in character development, moral conflict, and riveting suspense. As Fitz grapples with his identity and destiny, readers are drawn into a world of vivid landscapes, complex relationships, and harrowing decisions. Royal Assassin is a testament to the intricate storytelling for which Robin Hobb is renowned, securing her place as a luminary in the fantasy genre.
For fans of George R.R. Martin and lovers of epic fantasy, Royal Assassin offers a compelling blend of adventure, magic, and emotion. Experience the trials and triumphs of FitzChivalry Farseer as he struggles against formidable odds to protect his world.

About the Author
Robin Hobb is one of the world's finest writers of epic fiction. She was born in California in 1952 but raised in Alaska, where she learned how to raise a wolf cub, to skin a moose and to survive in the wilderness. When she married a fisherman who fished herring and the Kodiak salmon-run for half the year, these skills would stand her in good stead. She raised her family, ran a smallholding, delivered post to her remote community, all at the same time as writing stories and novels. She succeeded on all fronts, raising four children and becoming an internationally best-selling writer. She lives in Tacoma, Washington State.
