Hidden Italy
Hidden Italy by FAI – Fondo Ambiente Italiano unveils the extraordinary Italian heritage of art and nature.
The volume is published in a completely revised edition, updated and extended with the inclusion of all new properties. It illustrates places and monuments that, over the years, have become part of the heritage of FAI, the association dedicated to their conservation and restoration.
This extensive collection features images and critical articles on various locations and monuments. It covers the numerous stages of acquiring historical mansions, castles, monasteries, and citadels, which contain important frescos, art collections, and natural reserves in some of the most suggestive corners of the Italian peninsula.
Highlights include the castles of Avio, Manta, and Masino; the Abbey of San Fruttuoso; the Bay of Ieranto; the Torba Monastery; Villa del Balbianello; and Villa Della Porta Bozzolo. The Villa and Panza Collection in Biumo houses a prestigious collection of contemporary art, alongside other treasures such as Villa dei Vescovi and Parco Villa Gregoriana.
Moreover, the collection showcases sites such as Cala Junco, Castel Grumello, Villa Necchi Campiglio, Casa Carbone, Palazzo and Torre Campatelli, and Villa Fogazzaro Roi. It also features the Wood of San Francesco in Assisi, the historic Olivetti Shop in Venice (a masterpiece by Carlo Scarpa), and the latest acquisitions such as the millenary Abbey of Santa Maria in Cerrate, Casa Noha, the "Colle dell'Infinito", the Belvedere of Vasto, the Saline dei conti Vecchi, Casa and Torre Campatelli, Casa Bortoli, and Casa Macchi.
