Art and its Market by Dirk Boll provides a compelling handbook to the art market. This book offers a fresh perspective on the history of art and its often overlooked aspects, highlighting the significant changes brought about by the digitisation of structures and content. It examines the evolving roles of museums and art criticism, alongside the influence of new forces such as influencers and NFTs. In recent years, few market systems have evolved as profoundly as art distribution.

With 25 years of experience in the art industry, Dirk Boll serves as a continuous chronicler and seasonal commentator of these extensive developments. His work, Art for Sale, stands as a reliable source of in-depth knowledge concerning the inner workings of global art market systems. This book explores how auctions, the network of galleries, and fairs operate. It delves into how prices are determined and how trends in art production and collection emerge.

The updated and revised new edition provides comprehensive information on the practical aspects of art acquisition. It discusses the customs and pitfalls involved, the economic interdependencies between artists, buyers, and other market players, as well as the legal regulations governing the trade of art.
