Fans of the clean, elegant lines of traditional Scandinavian style are sure to be inspired by the 35 sewing projects in Scandi Needlecraft: 35 Step-by-Step Projects to Make, which fuse classic Scandi motifs including hearts, flowers, and birds with contemporary techniques and materials. Arranged into five chapters, the projects use a wide variety of fabrics: there are adorable fleece and felt baby booties finished with French knots, a classic gingham curtain tie-back, and a striped machine-embroidered apron.
Progress through the projects and learn a range of sewing techniques, including appliqué, cut work, patchwork, decorative machine stitching, shadow work, and ribbon work. Simple stitches such as herringbone, cross stitch, French knots, and daisy stitch are also used to great effect.
Simplicity is at the heart of Clare’s designs, and the clear instructions and step-by-step artworks mean anyone can have a go. You will be surprised how quickly beautiful pieces can be made.
