As cold winter goes away, it’s time for spring to come and play.

See the growing moon rise slowly . . . It’s only one more day till Holi!

Swirling clouds of colour. Sweet gujiya dumplings. Singing and dancing in the street. Discover the magical moments that make up Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colours, in this bright and joyful picture book.

During this very special time of year, friends and family come together to celebrate the arrival of spring, and the triumph of goodness and love over evil. Young readers will love following two siblings as they enjoy all the wonderful traditions and treats Holi has to offer - baking and bonfires, stories and sweets and, of course, a wild day of fun where people take to the streets and shower one another in brightly coloured powders!

With Chitra Soundar's lyrical rhymes and rich, vibrant illustrations from Amberin Huq, this is the perfect gift for one of the world’s most colourful celebrations.

About the Author

Chitra Soundar is an Indian-born British writer and storyteller. She is the author of over 40 books for children, including the award-winning picture books You’re Safe with Me and You’re Snug with Me, illustrated by Poonam Mistry.
Chitra has lived in more than three countries and has published in Asia, North America and Europe. As well as writing books, she is a speaker, oral storyteller and toe-dipper in writing for the small screen. Her stories are inspired by her close-knit family, her upbringing in India filled with epics and folktales, play-acting and her travels around the world.

Amberin Huq is an Illustration graduate from University College Falmouth. She dreams of a studio in a peaceful place by the sea, but for now, she lives and works under a massive heap of paper in her London studio. Amberin loves to create atmospheric illustrations, lively characters and has a new-found love of working in black and white. She has illustrated books for children of all ages, including Garland of Lights, a joyful picture book written by Chitra Soundar to celebrate Diwali.
