Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! DescriptionThe Leader's Guide to Unconscious Bias delves deeply into the pervasive and often unnoticed prejudices that seep into everyday interactions and decisions within the workplace. The book opens our eyes to the subtle instances where unconscious bias manifests, whether through the subtle disappointment of an HR professional when a candidate inquires about maternity leave, or the reflexive preference for graduates from red brick universities over those from state schools. It illustrates how these biases can also emerge in meetings, where a male voice may be unconsciously granted more authority over a female junior colleague.
Ideal for every manager striving to understand and transcend their own preconceived ideas, The Leader's Guide to Unconscious Bias elucidates that bias stems from mental shortcuts and personal preferences, which are inherent aspects of the human condition. The misconceptions we harbour and the manner in which we interact with one another bear significant implications for organisational success, especially within the workplace.
The book equips readers with over thirty practical tools designed to help identify and counteract unconscious biases. From prep worksheets to strategies for reframing automatic thoughts, these resources serve as invaluable aids for fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment.
According to the experts at FranklinCovey, overcoming unconscious bias is pivotal for achieving peak performance in the workplace. By recognising biases, cultivating empathy and curiosity, and prioritising genuine understanding, leaders can unlock the full potential of their employees, thereby driving organisational growth and success.
The Leader's Guide to Unconscious Bias is an essential resource for any leader committed to creating a thriving and inclusive company culture. It provides insightful perspectives and actionable advice on how to dismantle barriers, embrace diversity, and build a more cohesive and productive workforce.
