Nadine Dreams of Home
Nadine is afraid of London, and of her memories, and especially for her father, who didn't get out of Goma with the family. But then a kind teacher shows Nadine a photo of home, and Nadine learns to dream again.
(DYslexia-friendly)
A homesick girl yearns for her old life in Goma in this touching and ultimately uplifting drama.
Nadine Dreams of Home follows Nadine as she struggles to adjust to her new life in the UK. She doesn't speak the language, she can't understand what's going on, and more than anything, it's just not home. Especially since her father isn't with them in the UK. The family left Goma because it wasn't safe anymore, not with the uprising and the violence of the rebel soldiers. In the midst of her homesickness, Nadine endeavours to find something in her new life that will remind her of the happy memories of Africa.
Particularly suitable for readers aged 9+ with a reading age of 7.
