The Henna Wars introduces us to Nishat and Flavia, rivals at school. Yet, Nishat harbours a secret crush, despite her parents' disapproval of her liking girls. Can she find her happy ever after? This is a gorgeous, heart-warming, queer YA love story perfect for fans of Becky Albertalli.

When Nishat comes out to her parents, they tell her she can be anyone she wantsβ€”as long as she isn't herself. After all, Muslim girls aren’t supposed to be lesbians. Nishat faces a dilemma: she doesn’t want to lose her family, but she also refuses to hide her true self. The situation becomes even more complicated when Flavia enters her life.

Beautiful and charismatic, Flavia leaves Nishat breathless. As their lives intertwine, a rivalry threatens to obstruct any potential romance.

Can Nishat balance the twin desires of authenticity and love?

Adiba Jaigirdar emerges as a stunning new voice in young adult fiction, crafting uplifting, authentic stories from a Bengali-Irish perspective.
