The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Daré is an unforgettable tale that immerses readers in the life of Adunni, a courageous and spirited teenage girl born in a rural Nigerian village. At just fourteen years old, Adunni finds herself thrust into a life of hardship: she is sold as a wife, becomes a servant, and faces daunting adversities that would break many. However, Adunni’s remarkable determination and infectious joy shine through as she dreams of a better future.

With a burning determination to get an education and find her "louding voice", Adunni's story is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Despite enduring oppressive circumstances, she refuses to be silenced, aspiring to stand up not only for herself but also for the girls who came before her. Driven by an indomitable will, she navigates her way from her small village to the affluent enclaves of Lagos, forging alliances along the way and transforming adversaries into allies. Her journey is both heart-breaking and inspiring, offering readers a profound glimpse into pleasure amid adversity.
