As we head into the weekend and a potentially rainy one at that, I thought it might be a good idea to do a quick survey around the Book Hero Team and what Toys are proving to be popular and entertaining kids (young and old) at the moment…
Truth be told - I’m a little WWE obsessed at the moment - in particular what is referred to as the ‘Golden Era’ basically late 80’s - early 90’s. My desk is essentially a shrine to Hulk Hogan and other assorted characters of the time.
It is a great time to be a WWE Fan at the moment with a lot of Toys consistently coming out - especially of some of the older Wrestlers like the ones I’m into…truth be told though it can be a bit hard on the wallet as you try and collect the entire ‘roster’ and variation… but it’s always fun seeing all the different characters, outfits and styles they release in each wave.
I’m as obsessed as my 4 year old, Tilly, with the new Spudsters! They’re big, so incredibly soft, and each have such a cute little name and personality.
I have Hamish the Highland cow, and Tilly chose Bitty the Rainbow Bunny! These are also one of our go to gift ideas for the never ending birthdays for daycare friends because they’re a great price point but also just so darn adorable.
The other thing we’ve been loving lately are the Bluey figurines!
We love collecting the characters and play so much make believe using them! They’re great quality and are such a nice way to do imaginary play together as a family using the Bluey stories we know well as a basis.
Sylvanian Families have been a favourite in our house for years. We first started collecting them when Finn was 2, and now that the girls are 8 and 6, they're actually playing with them more than ever.
They love all the different families and characters, and there always seems to be another cute little accessory to add to their collection. Their favourite sets are definitely the house and the school, and they can spend ages setting everything up and making up stories for the characters.
Another favourite at the moment is Monster High. The girls love that each doll has its own personality and comes with unique accessories.
The playsets are probably their favourite part. They love using the little key to open them up, and it makes it easy for us to take them away on holiday.
The girls also enjoy getting creative and making their own little extras to go with them like lockers to store their accessories and clothes.
One toy Walter has been loving is the Bluey Wooden Tumbling Tower. He’s three, and he can play the proper game pretty well, which is satisfying! But the best part is that it’s not just used as a game, the blocks become houses, towers, trains, and whatever else he’s decided they are that day. His one-year-old brother joins in too, although his version is less “careful building” and more tipping them all out or immediate destruction.
Walter is very into his Paw Patrol at the moment. He’s got the whole crew, and they’ve all ended up living in his bed. In the mornings (and sometimes middle of the night) they go on rescues, then later they might be arranged in a circle for a picnic, so they’re getting a lot of use! Marshall get's brought with him around the house throughout the day too. They’re simple, soft, cuddly, not too big and he loves the characters!
I love my He-Man figurine! I’m new to the whole He-Man universe but I loved the message of self belief. My He-Man sits on my desk as a constant reminder that I HAVE THE POWER!
