See moreThis important story reframes daydreaming from a distraction to a cherished, unique source of brilliance for neurodiverse children.
Following the success of Wonderfully Wired Brains and Minna's Masks, Davey's Daydreams introduces a little boy with a vivid imagination. His daydreams aren't just flights of fancy; they are a key part of how he processes the world, and this heartwarming story celebrates these daydreams.
This narrative gently introduces daydreaming as a common trait in many neurodiverse children, indicating how it can be both a challenge and a strength. The story highlights how understanding and a channel for expression can help a child feel seen and appreciated for their unique mind. It's a validation for children who feel misunderstood because of their "fidgety" or "distracted" behaviour, and a resource for parents and educators.
This book reframes daydreaming from a negative symptom into a creative outlet, and it encourages children to embrace their way of thinking, teaching others to appreciate the value of imagination.
Louise Gooding has also been shortlisted for several awards, including The Week Junior Book Awards and the ALCS Educational Writers' Award.

About the Author
Louise Gooding has a keen interest in sharing stories that feature characters that stand out, are different, and who have something to say. Inspired by stories from her own experiences and those of her family, she took up writing to find a way of discussing neurological and physical diversity, and how to explore other sensitive issues within children's books. Irina Avgustinovich is a children's book illustrator from Belarus, now based in Portugal. Despite having a bachelor's degree in classical painting and ceramics, she found herself in children's illustration many years ago.
