Book Hero Magic crafted this summary to help describe this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Summary
Fortune Cookies by Christine Harris explores the intertwined lives of children from diverse backgrounds across Asia and Australia. Through tales of fear, hope, and longing—from Sarah's nightmares to Miki's dreams and Halil's missing father—the stories reveal the blend of humour and heartache shaping these young lives. The book opens windows into realities often overshadowed by stereotypes, set in familiar yet vividly depicted places such as China, Vietnam, Singapore, Korea, the Philippines, Bali, and Australia.

Book Hero thinking about your next read

Sarah has nightmares, Miki longs to follow her dreams, but she might destroy the dreams of those close to her, Lacey is haunted by memories, Halil's father disappears, the daughter of Ta-wha risks darkness and wild animals for a taste of freedom - this book allows us to share the reality of lives that are at best only half understood.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

Open the fortune cookies and read your future – and your past... Sarah has nightmares, Huong is threatened, Miki longs to follow her dreams, but she might destroy the dreams of those close to her, Lacey is haunted by memories, Halil's father disappears, the daughter of Ta-wha risks darkness and wild animals for a taste of freedom.

Sometimes funny, sometimes heartachingly sad, in Fortune Cookies Christine Harris gently lifts aside the familiar imagery of places like China, Vietnam, Singapore, Korea, the Philippines, Bali, and Australia, allowing us to share the reality of lives that are, at best, only half understood.
