The Expats

The Expats by Chris Pavone introduces us to Kate Moore, an expat mum who has recently relocated from Washington D.C. to the charming cobblestoned streets of Luxembourg. Her routine seems idyllic, filled with play dates and coffee mornings, while weekends are spent in Paris or skiing in the Alps.

However, Kate harbours a secret—one so significant it could obliterate her carefully constructed expat life. She senses that another American couple in their community may not be who they claim to be, and her husband’s suspicious behaviour only adds to her anxiety.

As Kate traverses Europe, she is constantly looking over her shoulder, fearful that her past is closing in on her. Determined to uncover the secrets of those around her, she starts digging, only to find herself entangled in a web of deceit. The layers of betrayal are so entrenching they pose a threat to her family, her marriage—and ultimately, her life.
