My Polar Animals Journal

The photographer Steve Bloom embarks on an expedition to explore the animals inhabiting the freezing poles: polar bears, penguins, whales, and seals.

The book follows Steve's journey as he discovers how these animals survive day to day—how they live, grow up, hunt, and have babies. His on-location account and dramatic photography offer an exciting commentary.

Each key animal—polar bear, whale, penguin, albatross, and seal—appears in a detailed photograph spread, along with a close-up box feature that introduces interesting facts. Within the diary narrative, information and photographs are presented in a visually engaging manner, allowing the reader to observe how a baby penguin matures into an adult and view a roll call of the various kinds of penguins.

Throughout the book, feature boxes provide tips for children interested in photographing animals. At the back of the book, two additional spreads offer further advice on how to photograph animals, whether in the wild or at home.
