From her girlhood, Laurie Zaleski was driven by a promise she made to her mother, Annie McNulty. Although Laurie never initially envisioned herself running an animal rescue, this became her mission in honour of Annie’s dream. Fast forward thirty years, Laurie, now a successful businesswoman, purchases a 15-acre farm nestled in the Pinelands of South Jersey, intended as a sanctuary for Annie and her collection of ragtag animals, including horses, goats, dogs, cats, chickens, and pigs.

Tragically, just two weeks before moving day, Annie passes away. Overwhelmed with sorrow, Laurie resolves to fulfil her mother's lifelong dream. In 2001, she establishes the Funny Farm Animal Rescue just outside Mays Landing, New Jersey. Laurie dedicates herself to continuing Annie's mission of rescuing and rehabilitating abused and neglected animals, ensuring that her legacy lives on.
