About the Author
Kate Gordon grew up in a small town by the sea in Tasmania, Australia. She is the author of numerous award-winning picture books and novels for younger readers, including Aster's Good, Right Things, which was published by Yellow Brick Books in November, 2020 and won the CBCA Book of the Year for younger readers in 2021. It was also shortlisted in the Tasmanian Literary Awards in 2022. The companion novels, Xavier in the Meantime and Indigo in the Storm were published in 2021 and 2023. Whalesong was published by Yellow Brick Books in 2022, following Kate's residency at the Maritime Museum of Tasmania. Kate continues to write novels and picture books from a cottage overlooking the river and the mountain on the Eastern Shore of Hobart.
Tamlyn Teow migrated to Australia from Singapore at 13 and went on to study a double degree in Commerce and Economics. In 2013, she left a corporate job in institutional banking to pursue her passion in learning how stories are told through art. Tamlyn strives to be a part of a team that focuses on important values and morals work that gives hope in challenging times, sparks curiosity and brings individuals together by opening their eyes to truth and meaning. In 2017, she completed a Masters in Production Design at Victorian College of the Arts. Since then, Tamlyn has worked in the art department for various films and TV productions in Sydney. Other notable works include co-designing and art, finishing the David Jones Christmas Windows for MacGyver Models as well as freelance commissions for illustration and sculpture.
