Book Hero Magic crafted this summary to help describe this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Summary
A Brief History of the Soul presents a clear and concise exploration of the soul's development in western philosophy, tracing ideas from Plato to modern philosophy of mind. It examines major arguments surrounding mind-body interaction, physical causal closure, and neuroscientific implications for the soul's existence, while covering influential figures such as Plato, Aquinas, Locke, Hume, and Descartes. The book uniquely melds historical perspectives with a compelling case for a non-reductionist, non-materialist understanding of the soul.
