Description
SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER
"Do you have a list of your books, or do I just have to stare at them?"
Confessions of a Bookseller by Shaun Bythell offers an irreverently funny and engaging account that had readers giggling all week, according to Scotland on Sunday.
Shaun Bythell is the owner of The Bookshop in Wigtown, Scotland. Boasting more than a mile of shelving, real log fires in the shop, and the sea lapping nearby, the shop should be an idyll for bookworms.
Unfortunately, Shaun has to contend with bizarre requests from people who seem not to understand what a shop is, the occasional home invasion during the Wigtown Book Festival, and Granny, his neurotic Italian assistant who enjoys digging for river mud to make poultices.
Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?
Shaun Bythell's second memoir offers an engaging continuation of his insights into life as a bookseller, matching the charm of his first volume. Reviewers highlight the book's humour and rich character sketches, capturing Bythell's dry wit and generous personality despite his self-proclaimed faults. Readers appreciate the blend of comedy, warmth, and candid reflections, describing it as both entertaining and comforting.
