Description
Mnemonic is about memory, people's personal histories, shared memories, and discordant recollections—exhuming the past in order to examine it in the present.
A variety of stories—from the discovery of bog people like Tollund Man to people's compulsion to retrace the origins of their ancestors—collide and form a piece of theatre which questions our concept of time, our capacity to distort history, and our attempts to retell the past.
Presented at this past summer's Salzburg Festival, the play is having its UK premiere in November 1999.

About the Author
Theatre de Complicite was founded in 1983 by Simon McBurney, Annabel Arden and Marcello Magni. They have created more than 27 productions, touring to over 180 cities in 41 countries over 4 continents - winning over 25 major international awards. Complicite have worked with a variety of collaborators , crossing different media in pieces that range from adaptations of writings and short stories throu gh reinterpretations of classic texts to major devised pieces such as MNEMONIC.
