Description
Blood Matters by Renee is a gripping tale set in the aftermath of lockdown. Puti Derrell enjoys running at midnight, a habit that felt safe during lockdown. However, as normalcy resumes, the town of Porohiwi no longer feels secure, especially after Puti discovers her estranged grandfather has been murdered, found with a Judas mask on his face.
Puti is facing numerous challenges. She has become the guardian of ten-year-old Bella Rose, an aspiring private investigator, and the new owner of a bookshop named Mainly Crime. Despite her reluctance, when another murder occurs closer to home with one of her grandfather's masks tied to it, Puti and Bella Rose find themselves drawn into the investigation.
Through their journey, they learn that in matters involving family and blood, one often doesn't have the luxury of choice.

About the Author
Renee ONZM, Ngati Kahungunu, is one of Aotearoa's writing rangatira, turning 93 in 2022. A novelist, poet and playwright, she was awarded the Prime Minister's Award for Literary Achievement, the Playmarket Award for significant artistic contribution to New Zealand theatre and the Nga Tohu a Ta Kingi Ihaka for a lifetime contribution to toi Maori. Blood Matters is her second crime novel. Renee lives in Otaki.
