This second edition of the Les Paul guitar was introduced in 1954. Known as the 'Gibson Les Paul Custom', this entirely black guitar was an expertly decorated work of art, aptly dubbed 'Black Beauty'. It featured a mahogany top, the new Tune-o-matic bridge, and an Alnico-5 magnet in the neck position. In 2007, Gibson released a new edition to celebrate the anniversary of this classic.
