The Nickle Nackle Tree, penned by the beloved Lynley Dodd, is a delightful and whimsical counting book that will capture the imaginations of babies and young children. Nestled in the fantastical Manglemunching Forest stands the enchanting Nickle Nackle Tree, a magical tree festooned with vibrant red Nickle Nackle berries. However, berries are not the only enchanting features adorning this tree; the twisty branches are home to an assortment of marvellous creatures that will delight and engage young readers as they learn to count from one to ten. In this charming counting adventure, you and your young reader will meet a cast of quirky and colourful birds, each with its own distinct personality. From the boisterous Ballyhoo bird kicking up a din, to the two squawking Scritchet birds with their spindly legs, and up to nine friendly Natter birds busy building new nests, this book is filled with Lynley Dodd's signature humour and lively illustrations. The journey continues to ten fussy Fissick birds, easily recognisable in their bright yellow feathered vests, making this book a visual treat and a fun learning experience. Lynley Dodd, the creator of the bestselling Hairy Maclary series, brings her unique talent for rhythm and rhyme to The Nickle Nackle Tree, creating a storytelling experience that is perfect for read-aloud sessions. The repetition and rhyming patterns not only make it a joy to read but also aid in language development for the youngest readers. About the Author

Lynley Dodd graduated from the Elam School of Art in Auckland with a diploma in Fine Arts, majoring in sculpture. She went on to teach art before taking a break to start a family. She began to work as a freelance illustrator and collaborated with author Eve Sutton on My Cat Likes To Hide in Boxes. There was no looking back as Lynley went on to write and illustrate her own books for children. Exuberant artwork and bouncy rhymes come together perfectly in books like Slinky Malinki and Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy. As well as being a visual delight, these are some of the most rewarding books for children and adults to read out loud. It comes as no surprise that, as a child, she adored Dr Seuss because of his 'crazy sounds and the fact that he took such liberties with the English language.' Other favourite authors included A A Milne and the fairy tales of The Grimm Brothers and Hans Christian Andersen. Today, Lynley is a big fan of Quentin Blake 'because of his humour and very clever art work.'
