A lanky kid from Perth obsessed by going fast, Garth achieved skill and speed in a race car that took him to places very few racers ever reach, including the crowning achievement of the V8 Supercars Championship in 2007.
He's raced wheel-to-wheel against a rotating cast of legends, from the era of Dick Johnson and Larry Perkins to Mark Skaife, Craig Lowndes, Marcos Ambrose, and modern heroes including Shane van Gisbergen, Scott McLaughlin, and Chaz Mostert.
Along the way, Garth has experienced the towering heights and bitter lows of life as a professional athlete in the brutal world of motorsport, where being fast behind the wheel is only part of the job, and the ongoing drive to lead, improve, and succeed never stops.
Now, as he moves into the next phase of his professional motorsport life as a television broadcaster and mentor, Tander opens up on the trials and tribulations of his career, the off-track pillars of his on-track success, the shock team exits, and provides insights into the ever-present backroom politics of a multimillion-dollar sport.

About the Author
Garth Tander is one of the most successful Australian racing drivers of the modern era. He became the 2007 Supercars Champion, driving a Holden for the HSV Dealer Team, and his career in the top category included a whopping 294 championship rounds and 648 races between 1998 and 2025. His six wins in the world-famous Bathurst 1000 cement his legacy as one of the nation's top racing achievers. Over his illustrious career he secured 58 Supercars Championship race wins, 102 podium finishes and 30 pole positions. Tander began racing go-karts as a child in his native Western Australia, amassing numerous titles, before stepping into car racing in 1995. Two years later he won the Australian Formula Ford Championship and then moved into Supercars in 1998 with Garry Rogers Motorsport. He drove for high-profile professional teams including the famous Holden Racing Team, Triple Eight Race Engineering and Grove Racing. Tander made a seamless transition into the Supercars television broadcasting in 2021 while co-driving in the endurance races. He was then elevated into the critical role of a Supercars expert television commentator post-retirement in 2025, bringing his wealth of experience and insights to viewers. Aaron Noonan is an Australian motorsport media veteran in a career spanning more than two decades. A former Motorsport News magazine reporter, he spent time working in motorsport public relations and has served as a TV commentator, host and reporter for Supercars and associated motorsport telecasts on Channel 7, Channel 10 and FOX Sports. Co-host of the popular Shannons Legends of Motorsport TV series, Aaron also worked as part of Channel 7's 2016 Rio Olympic Games broadcast team. Publisher of the award-winning V8 Sleuth website and host of its weekly podcast, Aaron runs his own motorsport media agency and has written a range of books on the sport, including working with legendary motorsport commentator and racer Neil Crompton on his autobiography, Best Seat In The House, which was published in 2021. Aaron lives in Melbourne with wife Jaylee and, when not writing about motorsport, is a tragic Hawthorn AFL supporter.
