Los textos, fascinantes y accesibles, permiten que los estudiantes se adentren en la compleja realidad contemporánea, tanto política como social y cultural, de América Latina, mientras refuerzan la lectura, la redacción y la conversación. Los ejercicios, todos ellos diseñados a partir de los propios textos, pretenden repasar problemas gramaticales y léxicos tradicionales, con especial énfasis en aquellos que atañen a las variedades dialectales del español americano: por ejemplo, el uso del pronombre ‘vos’.

About the Author

Miguel Á. Novella (PhD Georgetown University) cursó una Licenciatura en Lengua y Literaturas Hispánicas y una maestría en Lingüística Aplicada en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) en Ciudad de México. Ha enseñado español como lengua extranjera y cursos de formación de profesores en México y los Estados Unidos. Sus principales áreas de investigación son el aprendizaje implícito y explícito de una segunda lengua, la instrucción por tareas, la formación de docentes de segundas lenguas, el español para propósitos específicos y la adquisición y el desarrollo lingüístico de los hablantes de herencia. Ha publicado en revistas académicas y presentado en conferencias nacionales e internacionales. Actualmente es un profesor asociado de español en Eastern Washington University, donde ofrece cursos de metodología de segundas lenguas y de gramática.

Esteban Mayorga es profesor de literatura y de estudios latinoamericanos en el Departamento de Lenguas de la Universidad de Niágara, Nueva York, y en la Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador. Sus áreas de investigación son la escritura de viajes, la ficción transatlántica contemporánea y la enseñanza de lengua y cultura hispánicas. Es autor de varios libros de ficción, incluidas las novelas Moscow, Idaho (2015) y Faribole (2018); así como del libro de crítica literaria Galápagos Origin: Imaginarios de la evolución textual en las islas encantadas (2019). Para su doctorado en Boston College, escribió sobre la representación del paisaje galapaguense. Cada dos años imparte un curso sobre literatura de viajes y lleva a sus estudiantes a las Galápagos.
