Let the Light In

Reminiscent of When Sadness Is at Your Door and The Rabbit Listened, this poetic picture book helps children navigate sadness and move toward brighter days.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description
Help little ones move from sadness to brighter days with this hopeful and encouraging look at a universal emotion.

It's normal to feel sad, but for kids, sadness can often feel overwhelming and confusing. Let the Light In meets children in their moment of sadness and offers empathetic ideas on how to navigate it.

Concrete and simple ideas include creative expression, going for a walk, paying attention to the world around them, and visiting a friend. Little ones will be left with the uplifting message that, whether it happens in big ways or small, all at once or over time, sadness will eventually fade, and better days will come.

About the Author

Laurie Ann Thompson grew up in rural northern Wisconsin, where there are more cows than people. A former software engineer, she now writes for children and young adults to help her readers-and herself-make better sense of the world. She is co-author of the Two Truths and a Lie series and author of several award-winning nonfiction books, including the teen how-to guide, Be a Changemaker, and Emmanuel's Dream, a picture book biography about Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, which won the Schneider Family Book Award and was named an ALA Notable Children's Book.

Adriana Predoi grew up in Romania, studying mural art in high school and earning her BA in Fine Art. After graduating, she worked as a freelance illustrator for various companies in Romania and has spent the last few years focusing on children's illustration. Adriana's style is whimsical with a touch of magic. She gets inspiration from plants, nature, and best of all, books. In her free time, she loves reading fiction and writing stories for children. She dreams of publishing her own picture book. Adriana works from her little home studio in London.
