This is a glorious and witty celebration of fish in which they do the talking, telling readers exactly why they need to be protected - and respected! With salt- and freshwater populations declining globally, this book will help a new generation to get to know and fall in love with these sometimes slimy, sometimes spooky, often wacky, but totally crucial underwater wonders.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

Fish Are Friends are FINTASTIC! No, really - they do so much for us! They help prevent diseases, make sand, create medicine, and much more...

Follow your pufferfish guide through this wacky book to find out all about the good these creatures do, right from the (sea)horse's mouth. They're just CLAMouring to show off their special skills and features, explaining why they're so important to the ecosystem and letting you know exactly why they shouldn't be underestimated.

You'll meet:

  • the gulping guppies who help stop the spread of diseases like malaria by eating up all the mosquito larvae in ponds near human villages
  • the herring shoals who've invented a smelly way to communicate - through farts, which even have different accents
  • the great white sharks who work diligently to stop smaller animals taking over food chains, keeping the underwater ecosystem in balance

And many, many more!

Without fish like the ones in this book, we wouldn't be here, but they're in danger of disappearing. This book introduces young readers to a loveable bunch of fishy friends, encouraging a new generation of underwater protectors. With gloriously quirky text and illustrations from the dynamic duo Jules Howard and Gosia Herba, this stunning book will reel you in hook, line, and sinker!
